Misconceptions

In our office, located in the lobby of the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa, there is a TV. That TV plays a DVD that we made with a slideshow of some of our great fish photos and videos. That DVD includes some great footage of large sturgeon jumping, thrashing, and battling. That footage always makes people stop and watch for at least a moment or two.

I can generally tell if someone has fishing experience based on their comments and reactions to the sturgeon footage. One of the most common reactions that I get from anglers who have never experienced sturgeon fishing is amazement at the acrobatics of these fish.

I think that it is one of the biggest misconceptions out there about this amazing fish. People assume that because they resemble a cat fish, or other bottom fish, and are physically well suited to being bottom feeders, that they would be a very boring catch. I've heard them compared to halibut, logs, and 'dead weight'. But oh how wrong those people are!

These great photos were sent in this week from clients:

Boring? Lifeless? I think NOT!
